چکیده

We present results from simulations of two color QCD with two Wilson quark flavors in the presence of a quark chemical potential at two different lattice spacings. The equation of state, conformal anomaly, superfluid order parameter, and Polyakov line are all discussed. Our results suggest that the transitions from hadronic to quark matter and from confined to deconfined matter occur at distinct values of , consistent with the existence of a quarkyonic phase in this model.

Quarkyonic Matter and the Phase Diagram of QCD

Quarkyonic matter is a new phase of QCD at finite temperature and density which is distinct from the confined and de-confined phases. Its existence is unambiguously argued in the large numbers of colors limit, Nc → ∞, of QCD. Hints of its existence for QCD, Nc = 3, are shown in lattice Monte-Carlo data and in heavy ion experiments. 1 Quarkyonic Matter and the Large Nc limit of

The QCD Phase Structure at High Baryon Density

We consider the possibility that color deconfinement and chiral symmetry restoration do not coincide in dense baryonic matter at low temperature. As a consequence, a state of massive “constituent” quarks would exist as an intermediate phase between confined nuclear matter and the plasma of deconfined massless quarks and gluons. We discuss the properties of this state and its relation to the rec...

Strongly Interacting Matter at High Energy Density∗

This lecture concerns the properties of strongly interacting matter (which is described by Quantum Chromodynamics) at very high energy density. I review the properties of matter at high temperature, discussing the deconfinement phase transition . At high baryon density and low temperature, large Nc arguments are developed which suggest that high baryonic density matter is a third form of matter...

Hadron Production in Ultra-relativistic Nuclear Collisions: Quarkyonic Matter and a Triple Point in the Phase Diagram of QCD

We argue that features of hadron production in relativistic nuclear collisions, mainly at CERN-SPS energies, may be explained by the existence of three forms of matter: Hadronic Matter, Quarkyonic Matter, and a Quark-Gluon Plasma. We suggest that these meet at a triple point in the QCD phase diagram. Some of the features explained, both qualitatively and semi-quantitatively, include the curve f...

Status of the CBM Experiment at FAIR

The goal of present and future heavy-ion collision experiments at high beam energies is the precise scanning of the QCD phase diagram. The measurements at RHIC and LHC concentrate on the region at very high temperatures and almost zero baryon-chemical potential. The complementary approach is to explore the QCD phase diagram in the region of high net-baryon densities. Such experiments allow to a...
